Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing Dated

Valve has followed up on the success of the hugely popular Left 4 Dead sequel with an announcement that “Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing” will be release in Q2 2010 as the games first official expansion.

Even more exciting is the fact that the game pack will centre around the crossing of paths of our original survivors (Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey) with L4D2 rag tag bunch. Not much detail on the story other than that it will take place in between “Dead Center” and “Dark Carnival” and obviously feature all 8 survivors.

Update: Apparently Valve have confirmed that 8 vs. 8 will not be in the intial update however they did not specualte on future releases and have also not denied the stories about 8 player campaigns.

Doug Lombardi, Valve’s marketing guy explains that far from being just another level the expansion will feature additional content for all modes of game play such as Scavenge and Survival and introduce a new uncommon zombie to deal with, i’m sure we will get some achievements too.

They also revealed new weapons will be including including a new melee weapon and new common and uncommon guns as well as a new co-op challenge mode which money down, is going to be 8 survivors together.

Initial talk is that the pack will be free to PC users but consoles users will have to pay, well serves you right for buying an FPS on a console doesn’t it?

Really exciting news as L4D2 has been really enjoyable so far but I do miss the original cast!
