Uncharted 2 Beta Hits PSN Europe
Hey all,
The exciting (if somewhat delayed news) is that the Uncharted 2 Beta test has hit PSN Europe. I really enjoyed Uncharted, it was a refreshingly good third person action/adventure game and if nothing else it did what Tomb Raider should do, but in my eyes always failed at.
The combat system was fun, the story was predictable but enjoyable and it was one of the first ever trophy games!
Well the focus in the squeal is throwing in all the old stuff and a great big dose of multiplayer, the main question is did it work?
The answer is a resounding yes. Even this small preview of how the multiplayer system is going to work has made me happy. It’s extreamly pretty, fast paced, easy to control and it seems pretty balanced.
It really is a testament to Naughty Dog that the a control system that was all about single player and movement has managed to transfer so perfectly to multilayer death match. When I picked the beta up it took me 5 minutes to figure the controls back out again and after my second match I was ranking in the top 3. There’s an ace little RPG-y element with levelling and equipment but thankfully it doesn’t give you stupidly overpowered benefits which would have ruined the game.
I have only just touched the co-operative modes but these too feel polished, fun and balanced and I cannot wait to get some Guardian Force teamwork going on co-op objective mode.
The weapons in the game seem really well balanced, powerful weapons that kill fast (minigun and RPG) really slow you down and grenades have to be used sparring and carefully if you don’t want to kill yourself and your team.
The sheer amount of climbing, hiding, running and jumping you can do inside arenas makes this game feel totally unique and I had loads of fun in an RPG Death match running around top levels picking people off and not being seen.
Uncharted 2 was on my “probably gonna get” list, after playing just 2-4 hours of this beta it’s on my “already pre-ordered” list. The game appeals on so many levels, if you like action games, stuff like Devil May Cry, Tomb Raider or fast paced moshers like God of War but want a more grounded approach then this is a game for you. If you like co-operative adventures you can play with mates, it’s for you. If you like realistic Death Matching then again, this games for you.
Oh on another note the Old Republic game opened for beta registrations but the site majorly fucked up and I couldn’t register properly. I am still trying buy please Bioware help us!

Yeah I thought the first one was good, but I didn’t like it THAT much… but supposedly the second one should be much better
Yeah the buzz is really positive and the more I play the beta the more I like it. I played a lot more co-op on Saturday afternoon and it was fun, challenging but exciting.
